In the summer of 1983 I began to attend a private school and for the first time learned the truth of the gospel. I began to feel a hunger in my soul for the deeper things of God and His kingdom. I began to seek Him and it did not take long Jesus to reveal Himself to me, a worthless sinner. Through His boundless grace he reached down into my heart to lift me up into the newness of life. I accepted Christ into my heart in the winter of 1984. December 2, 1984 I bowed my heart and yielded my will to Jesus Christ. Since that time I have felt the Lord move in my life and direct my path into His ministry. I have always felt the calling of God in my soul, but it was not until I accepted that call and two years later that I felt the unmistakable urge to go into the full-time ministry.
I made my call public and the pastor of my church took me under his wing and directed me to Evangelism Explosion. From there until now I have served my God to the best of my ability.
I entered the Ministry full time in 1996 after teaching Sunday School classes for a verity of children and youth classes. I new it was time to go deeper into His word and further in His service. From then till now I have served as both Associate and Senior Pastor in several churches.
I have a strong desire towards missions and I believe that the Church is strongest when marching on its Knees! 1 John 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
As for my family…
I have a beautiful wife, Sandy, who compliments me in so many ways. She is an active player in the church, from leading and working in AWANA to singing on Sundays. She has an Associates Degree from Seminary and has taught every level in the church from Women’s bible study to children’s church. She enjoys working with children and excels in any area that she puts her heart.
My oldest son, Charlie, is a treasure, at 16 he was selected as an outstanding student in NY State. He is bright and feels that the Lord is calling him into the ministry as a missionary. He is currently attending college at Hannibal Lagrange College in scenic Hannibal. MO. He is persuing a degree in Intercultural Missions and is doing well.
My next son, Alex, is a middle kid from the word go. He likes to stir the pot and then sit back and watch what happens. He is very bright and needs to have something to direct his thoughts and actions during the day. He is saved and I have had the privilege of baptizing him. At thirteen years old he has a lot to learn about God and the world at large, but he is a great kid and in some areas he is wise beyond his years.
Rebekah is my daughter and the next in line at age 11. She is very curious in nature and loves to find out how things works. She seems to be the artistic one and loves to sing, act, and draw. She is also saved and has been baptized.
My last child is Caleb. He is 8 and as the baby seems to have all the cuteness that position implies. He is our comic relief and is a lovable little boy very secure in his place in the family and is not afraid to speak his mind.
My family has always felt that no matter where we go we are still a family. Because of this stability we have weathered the changes that the Lord has brought us so far very well. We are all looking forward to where the Lord is going to bring us to next. To us life is an adventure and our job is to praise the Lord in all things.
In Christ,
Pastor Al Weeks
