True Thanksgiving (Psalm 100:1-5)

Dr. David Stevens, November 19, 2017

Part of the Individual Sermon (No Series) series, preached at the Sunday Morning service.

Studies have shown that the emotion of gratitude is actually healthy; it makes you more resistant to stress and less susceptible to illness. Thanksgiving, however, finds its purest expression in trial. The Apostle Paul, persecuted and eventually martyred for the message he proclaimed, urged believers to “give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you.” Today, we’ll explore one of the best known thanksgiving hymns in the Bible, Psalm 100. Here, too, we find someone who knew the true motivation for thanksgiving even in the severest of trials.
