If you were to ask random samplings of Christians if they want to follow the Lord’s will for their life, I believe the majority of them would say they do.

They rightfully believe that God created them in His own image and that He has a perfect plan for their life. However, many could not articulate what that plan or calling is and certainly don’t know how it should affect the way they live on a daily basis. As a follower of Jesus, you want to go where He calls you. But walk on water? What does that mean?

In my opinion, Peter is one of the most dynamic and inspirational men of the Bible. Due to his impulsive behavior, bold proclamations of faith, Godly triumphs and human failures, he has been the subject of innumerable sermons. One incident I’m sure you’ll remember is the account of Peter responding to Jesus’ simple command of “come” and walking on the water.

During our study of the book “If you want to walk on the water, you’ve got to get out of the boat” by John Ortberg, we’ll let Peter’s walk stand as an invitation to all of us who, like him, want to step out in faith and experience the power and presence of God. We’ll learn to face our fears and chose not to let them have the last word; discover and embrace the unique calling of God on our life; and experience the power of God in our life to do something we would not be capable of doing on our own.

Join us Sunday nights from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. beginning 05 September as we consider the incredible potential that awaits each of us outside our comfort zone. Together we’ll learn to know Him as only a water-walker can. There is just one requirement: If you want to walk on the water, you’ve got to get out of the boat!
